In Memory

I am posting this blog in remembrance of a life lost too soon. Today, my office learned that the stepson of one of our close co-workers was killed in an auto accident this morning. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Ah...corporate downsizing

So, have you heard about the rising unemployment rates all over the country? Well, as of Dec 31, 2008- I will join the ranks of the unemployed thanks to corporate downsizing. That is, of course, if I cannot find a suitable job prior to that date. Not exactly the best time to be on the job market- just take a peek at the daily news if you doubt me. Alas, I am not looking at this as a reason to be depressed.Rather, I am looking at it as an opportunity for growth and change. I have been with my current company for 8 years, and it will be an odd feeling to not report to this office. But, I feel confident that a bright horizon is ahead. I have dusted off my resume and am in the process of updating and polishing. I shall keep my chin up and march forward and not look back....

Lost in laptop Land

Ever wonder why it seems so difficult to decide on a laptop? I guess for those who are tech-savy, it poses no real challenge. However, for those of us who sometimes get lost somewhere between the MB and Gig....it can seem like a daunting task. I feel like I am in some weird cyberspace drive-through. Multiple choices and selections - so many different options...I am just waiting to hear a booming robotic voice say "Would you like fries with that?"

CPR with 'Stayin' Alive'

Well, it seems that the Bee Gees may have been onto something. A study has found that their hit, 'Stayin' Alive', has a beat that is in sync with the recommended pace for chest compressions when performing CPR.

Rumors have suggested that the song 'Another One Bites the Dust', by Queen, has a similar beat- but lacks the appropriate positive message of *saving a life*

Just another reason to embrace music...and besides- who hasn't ever had the Bee Gees song stuck in their head for hours? I bet you are hearing it right now as you read this...

Happy

Thanks to some encouraging words, I am no longer feeling a sad state in regards to my blogging. I shall trudge forward with renewed faith in my blogging ability to entertain. Thanks to all! Blog on!

Sad?

So...is it a sad state of affairs when you don't have a wide range of blog topics? Or only one follower? I hope not- I am just going to chalk it up to my inexperience as a blogger and stay hopeful that I will soon come into my own. And join the ranks of awesome bloggers throughout the world....

At least I have one faithful follower...

Gerard Butler

I just cannot find adequate words to describe him. Even before 300, he swept me away with his Scottish brogue (my love of Scottish accents runs deep, just ask NG and MG - LOL) I thought I would be able to ramble on and on in this blog - about how my admiration is somehow different from the millions of other women who fan their brow at the mere mention of his name. And yet, I find myself at a loss for words as I think of him. All that comes to mind is...wow....

That and the fact that if I were ever fortunate enough to meet him, I truly hope I could find enough composure to at least be able to formulate an intelligent response...and not just say "Could you keep talking....I could listen all day and night"

Get Fuzzy - I LOVE this comic strip!

Seriously, I love this comic strip. From the first day I stumbled across it- it has not failed to bring me joy and laughter. I swear if my cat were able to talk- he would have the "Bucky" attitude, no doubt! If you have never checked out this comic, it is worth a look. You may like it, you may not...that is the beauty of life- we can all have an opinion.

The Strangers

Okay, so everyone has differing opinions on this movie...that is allowed. I, for one, say - "Do not watch this movie alone...especially in the dark" It freaked me out big time....in fact, I didn't look out my apartment windows after dark for weeks after seeing this movie at the theater with NG and MG....and I don't know how long it took MG's arm to recover from NG's near-constant grip during this movie....

And with All Hallows' Even coming upon us...I am sure this will be a popular movie to thrill and chill....

But....DO NOT watch it alone in the dark...or even with floodlights on for that matter...

Consider yourself warned....

OJ Carton

Ever wonder why the individual cartons of OJ (complete with hole for straw) tell you to NOT open the carton, please use straw hole? I mean, what if you don't want to use the straw hole....what if you want to drink straight from the carton like some renegade OJ drinker?? Or better yet- what if you want to put your straw in the 'triangle' of the open carton and *not* the 'straw hole' What if you like the way the straw twirls around in the freedom of the triangle???

My first blog

My friend tells me that I am falling behind in the times because I don't blog....so, in an effort to stay young forever (at least in spirit)- here I am embarking on my mission to blog. Is this anything like a first step, or first word...should someone be taking a picture of me - my first blog? A picture to forever capture the moment- so all can look back upon in for years to come- oohing and ahhing over how far I have come since my "first".
